Note: The reason for the many personnel changes is that this record covers the wartime years of 1943-1946. The fact that the band played so superbly during this period, notwithstanding the personnel changes, is a tribute to one man - Harry James.
Basic instrumentation for the band was James and 4 trumpets, 3 trombones, French Horn, 5 saxophones, piano, bass, guitar, drums and 9 strings.
